Southwest Shade Sails supplies shade sail products, replacement shade fabrics, DIY shade sail kits, hardware kits, contractor supply materials, and custom shade fabric products. Unless specifically stated in writing, Southwest Shade Sails does not provide installation, engineering, stamped drawings, wind-load calculations, structural design, permit approval, HOA approval, footing design, post design, building attachment verification, contractor licensing, or code compliance review.

Southwest Shade Sails is a product and material supplier. Customers, contractors, installers, property owners, and project managers are responsible for verifying that all products are suitable for the intended location, structure, and use.

Engineering, Permits & Code Requirements

Shade sails and exterior shade products may be subject to engineering, permitting, HOA approval, building code requirements, zoning requirements, wind-load review, fire code review, setbacks, height restrictions, attachment requirements, and inspection requirements. Requirements vary by city, county, state, property type, project size, wind exposure, installation height, attachment method, and intended use.

Large shade sails, commercial shade sails, public-use shade structures, playground shade sails, restaurant patio shade sails, school shade sails, HOA shade sails, and shade sails attached to posts, buildings, concrete footings, walls, roofs, or other structures may require professional engineering, permits, or licensed installation.​ The Customer is responsible for checking with the local building department, HOA, licensed contractor, or licensed engineer before purchasing or installing any shade sail product.

 

Our Product Policy

All shade sails, replacement fabrics, cut fabric, sewn panels, special-order materials, made-to-size products, and custom-fabricated items are made specifically for each customer and project.​ Once production has begun, custom products are non-refundable and non-cancelable.​The Customer is responsible for reviewing all measurements, drawings, colors, materials, quantities, and order details before approval. Any changes after approval may result in additional charges, production delays, or remake costs.

Measurements & Installation Responsibility

The customer is solely responsible for verifying all measurements, attachment points, post locations, post sizes, footing requirements, hardware requirements, building connections, installation methods, clearances, slope, tensioning, drainage, and wind exposure before ordering. Shade sails must be properly tensioned and installed with appropriate hardware, adequate structural support, and proper clearance. Improper installation may result in sagging, fabric damage, hardware failure, structural damage, injury, or property damage.

Southwest Shade Sails is not responsible for:​

  • Incorrect measurements provided by the customer

  • Improper installation

  • Inadequate posts or footings

  • Unsuitable attachment points

  • Weak walls, roofs, fascia, beams, columns, or existing structures

  • Permit denial

  • HOA denial

  • Wind damage

  • Storm damage

  • Sagging caused by improper tensioning

  • Third-party labor

  • Customer-installed products

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, improper storage, or installation outside the product’s intended use

Our Triangle, Square, Rectangle and Grommeted Shade Sails are sold as shade fabric panels only and are intended to be installed using proper hardware, approved attachment points, and suitable structural support. Final installation method, anchoring, tensioning, code compliance, wind-load safety, and permitting are the responsibility of the buyer, property owner, or installer. For  any style of shade sail larger than 12' ft Southwest Shade Sails, highly recommends consulting with a professional licensed shade contractor to assist you. The larger sizes, with elevated installations, commercial use, or high-wind areas, we highly recommend consulting a licensed contractor, engineer, or qualified shade professional before installation.
